The PDC World Matchplay 2015 will be held from 18 till 26 july. As always the venue of the World Matchplay is the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Traditionally the scoring of the matches is in legs. As all qualifying tournaments have been played by now, the draw for the first round is known. With van Gerwen, Taylor, Lewis and Van Barneveld amongst others competing, the World Matchplay 2015 is definitely a tournament to look out for!

Leader of the Order of Merit will play against fellow dutchman Benito van de Pas in the first round. The Green Machine cannot underestimate Van de Pas as the latter has shown some impressive improvement in recent months. Jelle Klaassen who won the PDC Players Championship 14 faces off against Simon Whitlock who has to have his wits together again to have a chance against “The Cobra”.

Furthermore, Raymond van Barneveld has an interesting draw against Andy Hamilton. Hamilton has fallen a bit in the rankings, but is still very dangerous when he has his day. Also interesting is Robert Thornton against young gun Keegan Brown and Brendan Dolan versus Vincent van der Voort. The absolute top match of the first round however is Stephen Bunting versus Ian White. Bunting has stormed the rankings of the PDC since his switch from the BDO, whereas White showed tremendous form early in July when he reached the finals of the Players Championship 14 only losing to Jelle Klaassen.

Other notable matches are John Henderson – Phil Taylor, Andrew Gilding – Mervyn King and Adrian Lewis – Joe Murman.
